On March 10, 2026, a public lecture on the topic of “Maritime Careers and Leadership” was held at BNU.

Within the framework of the event, the university hosted distinguished guests: Natia Labadze, the first Georgian female captain, and Mariam Gurgenishvili, the first Georgian female marine engineer.

The speakers shared their professional experiences with students, discussing practical insights gained in the international maritime sector, as well as the challenges they encountered throughout their career development.

The event also featured participation from BNU students who are graduates of the BSM Cadet Program. They shared their own experiences with the audience and highlighted the program’s significance in the process of professional development.

The lecture addressed key issues related to building a successful career in the maritime field, emphasizing the importance of leadership, international experience, and the professional challenges faced by seafarers. The session was conducted in an interactive format, providing students with the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers and ask questions of interest.
